OLD RANCH ROAD

Client:  Private Residence

Status:  Complete

This mid-century house, built in the style of Cliff May, underwent an extensive restoration to bring out the period details. The landscape responds to a number of existing site conditions, as well as the horizontal expanse of the house. The front gardens have a distinctive old California ranch style with flowering native shrubs and groundcovers, a drought tolerant meadow under the stand of Oaks and Sycamores, and a new arroyo at the toe of the slope where a drainage channel passes through the site. At the back of the house, where the site is sunny, there are extensive succulent plantings, as well as new terraces and a built in BBQ for outdoor entertaining below a large slope covered in groundcovers.
